Friday 5th of Oct Permanent V's Transient

Permanent Sense of Space-the kitchen-kitchen utensils v's Transient Sense of Space- the journey-roadsigns

I brought the road signs into the kitchen. The juxtaposition of the permanent meets the transient, the transient imposing on the permanent. The language of the journey of the road placed into the fixed domestic space. I placed the road signs in various positions around the kitchen and watched my families reaction over the routine of breakfast. They didn't seem too bothered. They all continued with their morning routines. My Dad barely noticed them!I really wanted to cover the kitchen in road signs in an attempt to make the permanent sense of Space of the kitchen more transient. Maybe this would have been more effective.

I plan to obliterate the road signs in kitchen utensil grafetti later in an attempt to domesticate / make more static the transient.

Encroaching on the Permanent Sense of Space with the Transient

Encroaching on the Transient Sense of Space with the Permanent

I brought kitchen utensils -the symbol of the permanent and static onto the journey- the transient sense of space.

Her work reminded me of the materials that I'm working with- brambles, nettles and twigs.
