Road signs: Illustrator :Digital Imagery

Using illustrator I converted the photographs of the roadsigns in the river into digital images  using the colour palette of the roadsigns

I experimented with switching the black and yellow, to see the effect of the dark on light and light on dark

I tried to replicate the roadsign colour palette onto the river sculpture photograph but I'm still experimenting.

Stencilling kitchen utensils onto roadsigns

After a tutorial with Sarah I've decided to stencil the kitchen utensils onto the roadsigns-obliterate the transient, the roadsigns with the domestic- the kitchen utensils, to domesticate, make permanent the transient.

getting the stencils ready

I covered the border with tape to create a border. Initially the plan was to completely obliterate the road sign but I changed my mind. It's important for the viewer to recognise that the canvas is an actual road sign

I experimented with colours. My colour palette included all te colours of the road signs- bold, vivid red, blue, yellow and black.

The road sign is becoming indistinguishable.

The yield is now completely covered in spoons.

The finished product. I removed the tape. The road sign has now been completely obliterated by the domestic kitchen utensil

The following are some examples of sculptures made out of roadsigns that I came across doing my research
